Visual Art Camps
Not just about drawing and painting. You may learn printmaking, make a book, create cartoons, or build sculptures. Messy Art is quite popular and is the perfect "not-in-my-house activity" for summer camp.
Stay active at Bounce U's Art & Bounce camps or the Noah's Art combo with My Gym.
Mixed Media is offered by Dish It Out and Small Hands Big Art.
At Charlotte Country Day you can spend the week drawing animals and at Charlotte Latin you can explore Mexican art or mosaics.
For teens, try Community School of the Arts or comic book design at CPCC.
Laurie Richardson offers summer themed camps at her in-home studio.
Try landscape painting at Myers Park Baptist or glass art at Providence Day.
The YMCA offers lots of art camps, and the Town of Matthews has many great themes such as African art, STEAM, and movies.
Pottery & Ceramics
Arts Delivered offers a pottery/ceramics/glaze camp at various locations.
Do some Clay Play at Myers Park Baptist, and try ceramics at the Morrison Y.
Providence Day, Charlotte Latin, and Charlotte Country Day all have clay camps as well.
This is a hodge-podge category with a lot of unique options.
The Town of Matthews has Batik, Shibori and Printmaking and Fairy & Gnome House Building.
At Providence Day you can make jewelry and tie-dyes.
Learn woodworking and weaving at Charlotte Latin.
The Morrison Y hosts several Wearable Art sessions.
Film & Photography Camps
Make Your Own Movie with Acting Up Studio or spend A Day at the Movies with the Morrison Y.
Providence Day offers a Young Filmmakers Studio for teens and Kids TV for elementary school campers. They also teach digital photography.
Charlotte Country Day has an iPad Photography camp.
The Harris Y hosts Photography and Scrapbooking, since you need somewhere to display those fabulous photos.
There are preschool Princess Dance camps, hip hop and jazz camps, Disney-themed camps, and dance/gymnastics combos. Here are some of the more unique options:
Fly high on aerial silks and trapezes at Charlotte Cirque & Dance Center and Aerial CLT.
Miller Street mixes it up with Totally You: Dance Camp & Etiquette Class.
Providence Day hosts a 2-week ballroom dance camp.
The Harris Y goes Around the World and has Dance Palooza.
One of the most popular summer camp activities, drama camps encompass musical theatre, improv and comedy, and Shakespeare. Whether you're looking to improve acting skills or just be more comfortable on stage, there is a drama camp for you. Note that many production camps are two weeks.
Matthews Playhouse puts on a wide range of camps and productions.
Acting Out Studio is doing Willy Wonka and Tarzan. Providence Day is performing Mary Poppins and Seussical.
The Children's Theatre has a satellite location at Charlotte Latin.

Covenant Day has honors choirs and Providence Day has an A Capella camp. They also have guitar, ukulele, and hand chimes.
Community School of the Arts has jazz band and orchestra camps, as well as Suzuki violin.
