2018 RALEIGH DANCE, DRAMA, & MUSIC CAMPS

How to find Performing Arts day camps

  1. Use our search filters and choose Category = Arts. Choose the Sub-categories you like.

  2. Enter your child's age and rising grade.

  3. Narrow by location, date, and times if desired.

  4. Many arts camps are half-day only. If you need a full-day option, include half-day in your search and look for camps that say "yes" under the Full Day Combo field; this means you can combine a morning and afternoon camp at the same location, often with extended day options.

Summer Camp Guru makes camp planning easy! We provide details for each session, saving you hours of research time.

For the younger girls, there's always a Princess dance camp. And the themes at Tutu School are based on famous classical ballets.

Arts Together has some interesting themes for 6 to 8 year-olds: Dance Around the World, Dance Through the Decades, and Tap to the Beat.

St. Francis of Assisi offers an Irish Dance and Drama camp for 1st-5th graders.

For real cultural education, check out the Break Dance camp at Grace Christian School.

Older dancers may need to go further afield to Chapel Hill or Durham, as there aren't a lot of options in Raleigh. St. Mary's and Grace have sessions for middle schoolers. Carolina ballet offers a summer intensive for ages 9-11; auditions are in January.

There's a drama camp for every age and level. The most interesting has to be Shakespeare & Stage Combat at Raleigh Little Theatre (10th-12th grade) - the name says it all.

North Raleigh Arts & Creative Theatre, Burning Coal Theatre, and the NC Theatre Conservatory hold full-day, two- and three-week camps, allowing budding actors to go through a full production process.

You can learn Acting for Film & Theatre at Sonorous Road. Next stop, Hollywood.

Summer is a great time to try out music lessons. You can Learn to Play at Progressive Music Center, take Beginning Piano at St. Francis of Assisi, or try Beginning Music at Falls River Music.

More advanced students have opportunities for Piano Camp, Music Theory, and Composition at Meredith College. Falls River also offers Intermediate music. There's also a wonderful orchestra camp at Meredith: Lamar Stringfield Music Camp.

Forget Bach and Beethoven and do something different at The Original School of Rock camp at Progressive Music Center.
